Karl Kübel – A Visionary Entrepreneur; Swami Sachidananda Bharathi

Appearance of great men and women in human history is a blessing from God. They remind us of our own inherent divine potentials. Some of them are born great. Some become great because of their noble character and sincere hard work. Greatness is also thrust upon some by circumstances. Mr. Karl Kubel belonged to the second category of great people. He was a great entrepreneur and visionary who became a living legend in his own time.

"Here is a living saint"

I first met Mr. Karl Kübel in 1992 when I was invited to visit the Karl Kübel Stiftung at Bensheim along with a team of  experts from India who were helping the KKS to establish a Training Institute for developmental studies in India. My esteemed friend Mr. C.M. Antony was instrumental in bringing me in touch with KKS. He had also told me a great deal about Mr. Karl Kübel and the extraordinary person that he was. Hence I was looking forward to meet  Mr. Kübel, and I accepted the invitation to Bensheim as a God-given opportunity.

We met in his house and had an inspiring interaction with him and his charming wife Mrs. Mary Ann Kübel. The first impression I got about him was 'here is a living saint'. Myself being deeply involved in a spiritual quest, I tend to look at people and issues from a spiritual perspective. Mr. Karl Kübel made deeper and more abiding impression upon me as I came to know him closer. I had the opportunity to meet him a number of times there after also.

"Family was his focus"

I saw in Mr. Karl Kübel a new kind of  'Saint of the secular world'. He was a very dynamic man with a great and inclusive vision. He was deeply involved in the mission of social transformation through empowerment of women and children. He understood that women and children are the most neglected and oppressed sections of human society, and social transformation will remain a mirage so long as they are not empowered to take care of themselves. Hence, family was his focus. He was also an outstanding entrepreneur and very successful business man who made a great deal of wealth and earned the reputation of being one of the best entrepreneurs of his time. Just as Mahatma Gandhi was a monk in politics, Karl Kübel was also a monk, but in business and industry.

"I thank God for the opportunity to meet a great man like Mr. Karl Kübel"

I could associate with KKS and its efforts in India for three more years. But my own commitments to a movement and mission for national regeneration of India that I myself had initiated during the Golden Jubilee of Indian Independence kept me very busy. I could not find the time or energy  to be actively involved in the activities of KKS though I had very much wanted to. But I thank God for the opportunity to meet a great man like Mr. Karl Kübel who still serves as a source of inspiration for me in many ways. I wish KKS all the best, especially in their efforts to serve India. We will be glad to collaborate with KKS in building a great new India of peace and prosperity. The goal of our movement is 'hunger-free, caste-free and corruption-free India' . Our focus is also on families and children.
