Memories of my meeting with Mr. Karl Kuebel
by Dr. Agustine Keemattam CMI, Rector, Darsana Institue of Philsohy, Wardha 442004, Maharshtra, India
It was the first time that I met Mr. Karl Kuebel. We were only four - Mr. C.M. Antony, Mr.Karl Kuebel, Fr. Jacob Peenickaparambil and I. We met at the residence of Mr. C.M. Antony in Kochi, Kerala, India. From the very beginning of the cooperation between Cyriac Elias Voluntary Associatin (CEVA) and the Karl Kuebel Stiftung Mr. Karl Kuebel and Mr. C.M. Antony were closely associated with each other. It was a very sincere, informal meeting.
Mr. Kuebel and Mr. Antony shared their fond memories of cooperation. We congratulated Mr. Kuebel for completing 90 years of fruitful life. He sang a song for us in German. He shared his dream of helping families and children with us. He believed that the future of humanity was in the well-being of families and children. He was clear about his mission. Even at the age of 90 years he was full of enthusiasm and confidence. He could pass on his enthusiasm and conviction to those with whom he communicated. I was impressed by his simplicity and approachability.
As we celebrate his birth centenary, I have mixed feelings - we miss him, his inspiring presence in our minds, we are inspired by his ideals and convictions, though he is physically away from us. May his spirit continue to guide all of us who want to build up a new world where one can live with dignity and peace.
